Q:
What makes Mary T. Tutoring
unique? |
A:
I
recognize that a strong
rapport and good chemistry
between myself and the
student is essential to the
effectiveness of one-on-one
tutoring. I am highly
motivating, personable,
well-rounded and skilled to
create an environment which
encourages students to
achieve academic success. I
strive to excite students
about the learning process;
instilling in them a sense
of confidence, which in turn
makes them much more
productive in the classroom.

Q:
Do you teach all subject
areas? |
A:
Reading is the common factor
in all subject areas. When a
child is struggling in
reading, it can negatively
affect all school studies,
especially in the elementary
levels. I have experience in
subject correlation and can
bring a student's reading
skills and comprehension up
to academic level. For
younger students, I can help
to improve spelling,
handwriting and creative
writing skills.
Mary T.
Tutoring is much more than
just about the three R's!
Sure, I teach reading,
writing and arithmetic,
but I have so much more to
offer. |
|
Q:
How often are tutoring
sessions? |
A:
Typically, I meet with your
student once per week for
one hour each session.
Depending on whether the
student has catch-up work,
late assignments,
motivational concerns, or
learning challenges, the
recommended frequency may be
higher. Ultimately, the
frequency is determined by
the parent. |
|
Q:
Where do the tutoring
sessions typically take
place?
|
A:
For convenience, parents
generally prefer that we
meet in the student's home.
Tutoring sessions may also
be scheduled at schools,
after school facilities,
libraries, or community
centers to better fit your
schedule or save on mileage
charges. |
|
Q:
What are your hourly rates?
|
A:
My rates are determined by
several factors:
-
Whether
sessions are purchased
packaged or individually
-
One-on-one vs. group
sessions (discount group
rate)
-
Applicable mileage fee

Q:
How far in advance must I
inform you of a
cancellation? |
A:
Emergencies happen, and I
try to be as understanding
and flexible as possible. To
avoid any misunderstandings,
it's usually a good idea for
both if we agree on a
cancellation policy
up-front. That policy should
state, how far in advance a
cancellation should be made
to avoid a cancellation fee,
and stipulate what the
cancellation fee will be. By
default, parents must cancel
scheduled appointments 48
hours prior to the scheduled
session. |
|
Q:
Do you coordinate
assignments with my child's
primary school teachers? |
A:
Absolutely, I communicate
directly with your student's
teachers throughout the
school year so our tutoring
sessions remain focused.
